Description

Hand-sculpted clay with various glazes, and stain on the arm (the blue bit).
I've had this character design rolling around in my head since I was in middle school, and I ended up creating her for an assignment this past spring ('11). Having a lot of experience with clay/ceramics, she still took me about 30 hours all told, including glaze time. She was quite a challenge, and ended up sagging a bit more than I wanted (the legs are a bit too far apart), but I think it works, and am more or less pleased with it.
(Fun fact: She broke/was damaged about four different times, and still has some glaze/small clay removal marks on her, but thankfully they aren't too obvious and don't detract much from the piece. She fell over during the glaze firing, and both of her arms have broken off at some point in time XD)

Oh, and I've had people tell me she looks like Korra from Tron: Legacy, but as I said, I've been messing with her character design for years, since well before the second Tron was even announced. I guess she looks slightly Tron-like, but I picture her markings as more of a circuit board than the neon-blue glowy lines on the costumes of Tron fame. :3

I love this piece because the body is so simple, pure and white while the arm is full of detail and color. You did a great job with the anatomy (especially the hand!) I am impressed that she can stand so well. She looks like a very neat character :)
